” I am studying International Hotel Management at Breda University of Applied Sciences. I needed to do a 6-month placement abroad as part of my studies. The vacancy, which was brought to my attention by the placement office for the trainee position as Group Reservations really appealed to me so I applied and got the position.
As Group Reservations Trainee I was working for the 4 O’Callaghan Hotels in Dublin. I was responsible for all group offers above 10 room and provided the group contracts and correspondence with clients. Furthermore, I was responsible for group block management and group rate management in Opera PMS
From July 2017 till January 2018 I had a really insightful experience as an intern of the O’Callaghan Hotels Dublin the responsibilities and varied tasks provided an environment that was both exciting and challenging.
During my internship in Dublin, I lived in a small “neighbourhood” called Killester Park. I lived here together with two other Irish guys. During my stay here, I have come to know them and some of my neighbours as well. They became my friends and I still have contact with them!
Overall Dublin and my internship with the O’Callaghan Hotels Dublin was a wonderful experience and I had a terrific six months!
At the moment I am busy with writing my Bachelor Thesis about the opportunities and barriers to set up a social enterprise in the hospitality industry. This is a very challenging process and hopefully, I will graduate in July and obtain my Bachelor Degree and find a nice job! ”
