Design at The Alex

The Alex Hotel’s new design gets inspiration from the history of its neighbourhood. Formerly a busy, working-class area with trams passing by the front of the hotel. The Boutique Dublin hotel expresses a distinctive industrial, 1950’s feel and look making it one of Dublin’s hottest hotel.

Front of house

Outdoor Canape area at the main entrance reflects 1950 glamour (I-Beam design). The area by the elevators, reflect a waiting area of a train station with the timetable above. Shelves in the lobby are all custom made. Seating in the lobby is fluted, to reflect the 1950s era. Vertical lines throughout the hotel reflect the architecture of the local area.

Restaurant – Relax

The atmosphere in the restaurant has an Art Decco feel with a mix of polished brass and steel. Elements of international design complete its unique look: the Bar counter is made from Italian granite, the lights are crafted in Canada and the pink silk panels are made in Paris. The custom-made Cavaret Fabrice Curtains give the restaurant a deep luxurious feel.

Meeting rooms

Wallpaper in The Rovos are made in Italy. Herringbone design wooden flooring.

Guest Bedrooms

Painted in light pink, each bedroom has several elements of unique design. Carpets in the bedroom reflect the concrete feel of the industrial period. Each bedroom light is handmade in Copenhagen, while headboards feature Italian leather and the furniture is made in Cork. Iconic retro Roberts radio and telephone reflect the 1950s. Wall art is designed by Aoife Mulllane.
